Update January 2011: I'm still doing remodel projects and
enjoying it. When I started doing this full time I built "spec" homes ( i.e. on "speculation" that I
could make a profit). Then I built two custom homes in one year while waiting for my spec houses to sell.
When the housing market tumbled it took over a year for the spec houses to sell. So I stopped building
spec homes. It will take a few years before as many "spec" houses are needed again.
So it's now enjoyable to think of building more custom homes to be able to count on the
known income.
It takes a quite a bit of time with the buyer to develop plans and make selections. Some buyers
find it easy to make decisions quickly and they understand how the construction process works. Other
buyers change their minds often, and require a good deal of hand holding. I like to
talk with potential buyers describing what it's like to build a custom home and help them evaluate
what it would be like for them.
Lots: I have 3 nice lots available in Cherry Glen Estates in NW Ankeny (across highway 415 from the
Cherry Glen access to Saylorville Lake).

I can build to plans you find or I can design one with you using AutoCad software.
Your price would be computed on the actual costs plus a fixed fee for our services.
